Raindrops inbound

First of all – I’ve got a new travel tip published at Resekoll.se about our recent trip to Guilin and Yangshao in south China.

Woke up early this morning and finished and sent off the Tokyo story. Turned out real nice and should make for an inspiring article. Afterwards, I swam laps for an hour in the very short pool. Swimming is such an excellent way to exercise. A little boring without music, but perhaps a bit more meditative than jogging. There is a underwater kit for the iPod. Haven’t tried it yet though. Here’s more info.

Can’t wait until we move back to the Western Harbour and closer to both a public pool and the ocean. Hopefully the move into Loft Living will happen before November. But we’re not holding our breath.

Yes, today its raining on Samui. I saw it coming yesterday and the photo clearly shows the buildup. No storm though. Just plain ol’ monsoon rain. According to one islander, the weather has been screwy since last September. Which in turn means that for the last two or so years, there’s been more rain than sun.

Elle’s school visit yesterday was a huge hit. Everybody – her teachers (and school owners) Rozz and Rachel and fellow students at the now expanded Samui Learning Centre, greeted her with wide smiles.

Elle’s best friend Ploi was super thrilled to see her and we hung out with her and her dad Paul all afternoon and well into the evening. First in their jungle home in Lamai and then at a beach front restaurant way off the beaten track. Enjoyed some of the best green curry ever.

Seems as if the rain has stopped. Perhaps I’ll go get a foot massage. Not much else to do on a day like this. Maybe a trip into Chaweng this afternoon and some leisure shopping or lunch at Elle’s favorite diner, The Three Monkeys.

Speaking of monkeys and primates. Just read about the massacre of seven gorillas in Afrika. Terrible how hard it is to keep these delicate creatures, so closely related to us, alive and well. I’m sending a thought to the remaining mountain gorillas in the Virunga Park. Peace.
