Thoughts from the commute
Written by joakim on 2007, 09, 12 – 01:18:40Mapping my commute
I’ve been commuting to Østerport – just outside downtown Copenhagen – for a couple of days now and its been relatively smooth sailing. Not that the trains haven’t been late, delayed or all together canceled. I’m really amazed that these train people can’t seem to get their act together. Its not like the bridge was erected yesterday. Seven years people, seven years.
As I left the train station, I passed by the US Embassy. And yesterday, being 9/11, I felt just a little anxious walking that particular block.
Anyway, even if thousands of Swedes make the daily commute to Copenhagen and elsewhere in the country, to me, each day in Denmark really was like taking a short trip abroad. The difference between the two cities (Copenhagen/Malmö) is obviously huge even if the bridge has helped to even things out a bit. Copenhagen just has a lot of great character. A little rough around edges, if you will. I like that in a city.
I spent about an hour last evening shooting skaters at the park. There was about twenty minutes of really great light and I’ve finally come up with a couple of new custom camera settings to create what I hope will provide thinner slices of skate life. Still no news on the arrival of the new Canon though. I hope Canon is better at delivering on time than the train company is.
